So I have to say I'm pretty impressed with Obama so far. He's only been in office for a week, and he's taken action on a lot of the major issues I care about. From closing Guantanamo to stopping the CIA from torturing people to restoring habeus corpus to letting the California emissions waiver through to appointing a climate change czar to making efforts to make all of Bush's records FOIA-able. All in the first week! To be honest, I was figuring that he'd get around to doing that stuff eventually, but I was prepared to accept the fact the administration would be 'working on the economy' for a few months. The fact that he did all those things immediately upon taking office shows me that he thinks they are very important, and that he intends to live up to his campaign promises. I'm also encouraged to see that Congress again subpoenaed Karl Rove to testify about all the illegal stuff he's done over the last 8 years. If you remember, he was subpoenaed before but the Attorney General refused to arrest him for ignoring the subpoena. I bet this new Attorney General will actually enforce the law and arrest that little pig if he ignores this subpoena. Boy would that make my day. |
